Deja and Sebastian first met in high school through mutual friends. What began as a casual friendship eventually turned into a deeper connection. They spent time going to church together and getting to know each other before officially beginning their relationship on February 2, 2020, after watching the Puppy Bowl, a tradition they now participate in every year before the Super Bowl.

Not long after they started dating, the world was turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic. Deja and Sebastian adapted to the new reality together, finding creative ways to stay close and support one another despite the challenges. There were countless FaceTime calls, phone games, and Zoom movie nights.

During their freshman year of college, they faced long distance, with Deja studying in Alabama and Sebastian in Mississippi. Their commitment never wavered, and eventually, Deja transferred to Mississippi State University, where they spent the next three years side by side. They were both active in campus life through student organizations and Greek life, continuing to grow as individuals and as a couple.

After graduating in May 2024, they took another big step and moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where both had accepted job offers before graduation.

One of the most memorable moments of their journey came on May 22, 2025, in Miami Beach. Sebastian surprised Deja with a two-room escape room experience. In the second room, Deja walked into a beautifully set-up proposal space—complete with a photographer ready to capture the moment. It was the perfect surprise and marked the beginning of their next chapter together.

Throughout all of life’s changes, one constant has been Cosmo, Deja’s dog since high school, who quickly became a beloved part of their relationship. He’s been by their side through every chapter and is truly the heart of their little family.
